in-character interviews from the fragaria memories site to promote the zozotown x fragaria memories collab
By a strange coincidence, some Fragaria have ended up as cover models for a fashion magazine. Though they usually serve as knights, protecting their Lords, kingdoms, and people, this was their first time as fashion magazine cover models. After the photoshoot, we had a chance to interview them and ask about their thoughts.First up were the members of Red Bouquet. How was the photoshoot?
Merold: It was definitely a new experience.
Romarriche: Yes, it is a very rare opportunity that we Knights of Fragaria are invited to model for a fashion magazine.
Sanah: Especially for a cover! I was all like “Huh!?” at first, but like, in a happy way!
Merold: Hallritt wanted to come watch the photoshoot, but he had other duties he had to attend to.
Romarriche: What a shame. The photoshoot was a fun challenge, though difficult at times. It was quite tough to best convey how wonderful the clothing was.
Sanah: We practiced like crazy trying to figure out what kind of poses worked best.
Merold: I’m looking forward to seeing which one will be on the cover. We worked pretty hard on this, so hopefully all the readers will like it too. These outfits were designed with you three in mind, right?
Sanah: And I was really touched, too! When I saw the outfit, it was so bright and happy, and I thought it could definitely cheer someone up, and then I was told it was made with me in mind!
Merold: You looked really happy, Sanah. The outfit really suits you, too. It’s like it was made for you.
Sanah: Really~!?
Romarriche: I think so, too. It has a relaxed feeling to it, which is very like you, Sanah.
Sanah: This sweatshirt is super comfortable. I really like loose-fitting clothing, so I guess they incorporated that into the design. And I think your guys’ outfits really suit you, too!
Romarriche: Thank you.
Merold: Thanks~♪
Romarriche: I do not think it is obvious from just the look of it, but this outfit is actually a one-piece. The top and bottom are connected.
Sanah: Huh, really!?
Merold: I like that~ It’s like the clothes let you decide on an outfit without having to worry about it. A design like that really puts the wearer in mind.
Romarriche: Indeed. I feel as though this could be an outfit you would reach for on special occasions when you are strangely unsure of what to wear.
Sanah: The colours are muted but still gorgeous. It’s so you, Romarriche! It really suits you~☆
Romarriche: Hehe, I am glad to hear that.
Merold: Hey~ What about me?
Sanah: Your outfit really suits you, too! I thought it was something you already owned at first. I guess the designer really knows you well, huh?
Merold: I thought so, too. Wanna see my favourite part? It’s right here on the back.
Romarriche: It’s a sailor collar. It’s cute yet bold, and I think it’s a design that truly understands you, Merold.
Merold: Exactly~ The ribbons on it make it sweet, but it’s not only sweet, y’know?
Sanah: It’s amazing how it looks really cool when you wear it.
Merold: Right~?Any final words?
Romarriche: It is an honor to have had the opportunity to wear a piece made with such care. It has made me want to make something myself.
Merold: Can I wear this heading home~? Not today? Then can you at least deliver it to the castle later?
Sanah: When you have a favourite outfit, it makes you excited to think about where you’ll wear it! I’m gonna wear this to… But I wanna show it to Rimicha first!
Next up were the members of Blue Bouquet.Klarkstella: Kurode, your brother is waving at you.
Kurode: It’s fine, just don’t look at him that much.
Willmesh: Kurode, your brother is waving at you really hard…
Kurode: I’m not gonna look at him!How was the photoshoot?
Klarkstella: It… went well, right?
Kurode: I guess so. I mean, the clothes themselves are already cool, so it was fine to just do whatever.
Willmesh: They told us to move however we’d like… so that’s what we did.
Klarkstella: I thought Kurode was about to start doing his training.
Kurode: Don’t judge me! This leather jacket is just so easy to move in that I wanted to show that by moving around a lot.
Willmesh: I was also trying to pose in a way that would show off the… I’m not sure what it’s called… The fluffy part at the bottom of this sweater.
Klarkstella: I was also trying to show off the design on the sleeves… I guess we all put quite a bit of thought into our movements.
Kurode: Haha, I guess so.What are your thoughts on the outfits made with you in mind?
Kurode: I was honestly pretty surprised since this is exactly the kind of thing I would buy myself. If this was something I saw in a store, I’d probably buy it.
Willmesh: I think… this was something made with Lord Mell in mind a bit more than me…
Kurode: Huh? I think the outfit is very like you, Willmesh.
Willmesh: Huh? R-Really?
Klarkstella: Mhm. Your usual clothes have bits of fluff here and there, so I think they had you in mind.
Willmesh: I-I see… So that’s the kind of look I give off. …Hehe, it makes me want to ask Cielo about that, too.
Kurode: I think Cielomort would definitely agree that it suits you. It perfectly captures your gentle personality.
Willmesh: Thank you.
Klarkstella: I really like the sparkly fabric of the shirt, but is it alright if I make one request?
Kurode: What’s that?
Klarkstella: Could you please design a matching one for Louter?
Kurode: Hey! Show a bit of restraint! If you could swap outfits with each other, whose outfit would you choose?
Kurode: Huh!? That’s tough…! It’s not really swapping, but I think Willmesh’s top would look good under this jacket.
Klarkstella: That jacket definitely does look like you could wear quite a few layers underneath.
Kurode: Exactly. What about you, Klark? Would you rather wear my outfit or Willmesh’s?
Klarkstella: Hmm… If it’s to challenge myself, then maybe yours, Kurode. Whether or not it’ll suit me is a different question…
Willmesh: I think you could pull it off, Klark.
Kurode: Me too. I want to see that.
Klarkstella: Huh, then let me borrow it sometime. What about you, Willmesh?
Willmesh: I’ve been thinking about your top for some time now. I think it would be nice to wear while I’m relaxing at home.
Klarkstella: Then it’s settled. When should we swap?
Kurode: Wait, aren’t these outfits just for the photoshoot…?Any final words?
Klarkstella: I thought this kind of project wasn't so bad. I hope everyone who reads the magazine enjoys it, too.
Willmesh: I realized that I really don’t know much about clothes, so I want to learn some more. I’ll look for a book once I get home.
Kurode: This leather jacket is really nice. Can I wear this heading ho— …Ugh, that’s exactly what my brother said…!
Finally, the members of Noir Bouquet.Hangyon: Ni hao~♡ What do you think of this wonderful outfit? Does it suit me~?
Pikero: Oh dear, what a racket.
Chaco: You say that, but you seem to be having fun too, Pikero. How was the photoshoot?
Pikero: I thought it would never end.
Chaco: Oh, I agree… I didn’t think they’d take so many photos.
Hangyon: I was told to move as I pleased, but when I did~, I got told off ♪ Isn’t that strange?
Chaco: That’s because you kept trying to get Lily involved.
Hangyon: But I made sure she wore a matching outfit~Please tell us about your thoughts on the outfits made with you in mind.
Chaco: It looks exactly like the kind of thing I already like. It’s comfortable and easy to move in, so it’s great. It’s also easy to match with other clothes.
Hangyon: I like how Pikero’s clothes have a variety of textures. Some parts are fluffy, and some are smooth.
Pikero: It’s called mixed material juxtaposition. Aside from the imaginativeness of the materials, I also admire the choice of colours. It is a nice frog green colour.
Chaco: Couldn’t you have put it any differently…?
Pikero: I see, so you mean lotus leaf green?
Hangyon: Even someone like Pikero, who has no interest in fashion, looks cool with just that one item. It really is a great piece of clothing~♡
Chaco: What’s up with the shoulders on your outfit, Hangyon? It looks interesting.
Hangyon: Isn’t it~? Don’t you think it shows off my sexy, mysterious, cool, and charming side~?
Pikero: I guess so.
Chaco: I guess so.
Hangyon: Stop saying that so monotonously!Where would you like to go, or what would you like to do while wearing these outfits?
Pikero: It doesn’t matter what kind of clothes I’m wearing; the only place where I’d like to spend my time is the kingdom’s laboratory.
Hangyon: That’s because Lord Keroppi is there.
Chaco: What about someplace other than the lab? You leave that place sometimes, right?
Pikero: Hmm… That’s true; it’s not like I never leave the lab.
Hangyon: I’m sure the people in your kingdom would love to see you dressed up like this. Why not take the opportunity to go window shopping in town~?
Pikero: Shopping…? …Actually, I have a better idea. I’d go to Tuxedosam Kingdom.
Chaco: Tuxedosam Kingdom? Why?
Pikero: I’ve been told that I should pay more attention to what I wear, so I’m sure seeing me in this outfit would quiet them down for a while.
Chaco: So you mean you’d show them how stylish you are to make them happy.
Hangyon: Isn’t that great~?♡ Well, for me~, I’d wear this outfit to a tea party ♪ I’d invite lots of guests and have them try tea from Hangyodon Kingdom. I hope you’ll come along with someone too, Chaco ♪
Chaco: I’d invite Aru to come with me. Maybe I’d wear this and… go out parkouring. Even if it’s a little cold out, I think I could spend the whole day outside.
Hangyon: Ah~ Now I’m even more excited ♪Any final words?
Chaco: If you see someone wearing this, go say hi. I want you to feel the texture of it yourself.
Hangyon: What day does the magazine go on sale again? I have to ask the bookstore to put some copies on hold for me~ One for my wonderful Lord~ One for myself~ Some to give to visitors at the castle~ And some to put away for safekeeping~ So I think 100 copies would be enough ♪

Tuxam: Athlete entrance, opening ceremony...
Rimicha: Whatcha doing?
Tuxam: I’m devising a sports day program.
Rimicha: S-Sports day…! An event for people to steal the spotlight…!
Merold: I never liked it either~ It’s so exhausting.
Kurode: Huh, they’re getting a Fragaria to handle things?
Tuxam: Of course! It’s a kingdomwide gentlemanly citizen’s sports day! Here’s what I have planned:
Gentleman’s opening ceremony: Lord Sam
Gentleman’s warm-up exercises demonstration: Lord Sam
Gentleman’s lost and found desk: Lord Sam
Gentleman’s start-line drawing: Lord Sam…
Kurode: You’re getting your Lord to do everything?!

Kurode: Just give him less work.
Rimicha: Yeah, that sounds good.
Merold: It really is sports day season, huh? I guess the weather has gotten a lot nicer lately.
Tuxam: I’d like to gauge a point of reference, so what kind of events do you hold in your kingdoms?
Merold: Nothing special, really. Running races, ball toss, relay races, big ball rolling, and dancing. Was there anything else?
Kurode: Tug-of-war… and cheering competitions too, I think.
Merold: Ohh~ That’s right, we did have those.
Rimicha: The bread-eating contest was the only one I ever did well in…
Tuxam: What? A bread-eating contest? What kind of contest is that?
Rimicha: Huh? You don’t know? During the race, a piece of bread is either hung up for each contestant or left on a table. The person who can make it to the finish without dropping the bread from their mouth is the winner. Of course, you can’t use your hands.
Tuxam: Amazing! What a gentlemanly event! I must incorporate it into the schedule at once!
Rimicha: Huh!?
Merold: How about I provide some brioche from My Melody Kingdom? It might lead you to having too many people participating for you to handle, though~♪
Tuxam: I’ll be sure to request it. We can further discuss it later!

Rimicha: But Merold, you look like you’d be a fast runner.
Merold: I wouldn’t say I’m slow; I just don’t run.

Kurode: Then why don’t you hold a sports day in your kingdom with stuff that you want to do?
Rimicha: Huh!? No, I could never. I don’t even want anything to do with sports days anymore. Competing with others to see who wins and ranks the highest… It hurts…
Kurode: I didn’t mean it like tha—
Tuxam: Noooooooooooo!
Rimicha: Ah!
Merold: That scared me~... Did you finish writing your program?

Hallritt: You’re right. It’s like a floral smell… It’s a similar smell to the flower bed, but I don’t think it’s from that. What could it be?
Rimicha: It smells like flowers, but somehow it also smells delicious...? How is that possible…?
Merold: I think it’s coming from that cafe wagon over there. They serve some pretty unusual drinks. Do you two want to try some?

Hallritt: R-Rimicha! I didn’t say that much!
Rimicha: Huh? But that’s what you meant, wasn’t it?
Hallritt: Well… I guess so…
Merold: I see. I appreciate the thought, but I have no intention to allow a guest who has enjoyed this kingdom to do something like that. It’s my treat, so just accept it. Here.
Hallritt: …Thank you.
Merold: Wow, how compliant~ Good boy~♪
Hallritt: You're mocking me again? …Hm!? This drink… is delicious!
Rimicha: It really is! It’s delicious! And warm~! And it’s sweet and smells so good~…
Merold: The drink is made with syrup boiled down from flowers. There were many different flowers to choose from, but I just chose “Today’s Recommendation." It’s made from this flower.
Rimicha: This flower… the red one in the flower bed? …It really is! It smells exactly the same!
Hallritt: What a pretty flower. I wouldn’t say it’s particularly unusual, but… I don’t think I’ve ever seen this flower before.
Merold: This flower only blooms in this kingdom.
Rimicha: Really?
Merold: Incidentally, apparently Kurode didn't know that. That’s understandable, though, since they bloom throughout the whole kingdom.
Hallritt: Wow, maybe there are a few things that we think are commonplace that really aren’t at all.
Rimicha: Maybe there are side dishes that only exist in my kingdom, but I just haven’t realized it yet…?
Hallritt: Maybe that means you have to start looking for them! Anyway, this drink is really good. Flower syrup… I wonder if I could make some myself?
Merold: Huh? You’re going to make some?
Rimicha: Does that… count as cooking…?
Hallritt: Alright, I’ll try making it sometime with flowers from the castle. I’m sure everyone would be happy to enjoy the floral scent like this.
Rimicha: Y-Yeah! I hope that… turns out well…! I really hope it does…!
Merold: You really like flowers, don’t you, Hallritt?
Hallritt: You think so? I was born from a flower, so I guess I might have some emotional attachment to them. I like living alongside flowers. They can tell you the season or even change the atmosphere of a room.
Rimicha: I have a flower lei that Sanah made for me, and I would display it in my room back in knight school. Looking at the colourful flowers makes me feel so happy~! What about you, Merold? Do you like flowers?
Merold: Hmm, when I do see them blooming, I think, “Oh, how pretty,” or “What nice colours.” Melody likes them, so sometimes I’ll pick some to take home with me.
Hallritt: So you mean you don’t like them?
Merold: I think “liking” them is more like how Romarriche feels. He tends to a garden full of flowers every day, picks up fallen petals, displays them or puts them in tea, and makes sure they bloom just a little longer.
Rimicha: Roma really loves flowers, doesn’t he?
Merold: Yeah. I just think something like, “They’ll all wither eventually, anyway.”
Hallritt: Maybe he likes them because they’ll all wither eventually?
Merold: …Huh~~~...
Hallritt: …Wh-What’s with that look?
Merold: I just thought that that sounded like something Romarriche had said.
Rimicha: Has Roma really said something like that?
Merold: He said, “It is exactly because they will not last eternally that I want to tell them how beautiful and lovely they are every day while they are in bloom.”
Rimicha: That sounds just like him…!
Hallritt: Just what I’d expect from Roamarriche. Since he tends to the flowers even when they’re not in bloom, he’s probably even happier to see such beautiful flowers bloom.
Merold: Maybe so. Hey, you two, tell me about what you bought while shopping.
Rimicha: I’ve been waiting for you to ask! I’ll go first! I got plates, mugs, and bento boxes! I found some super cute ones~. I also got some bento boxes, and some other bento boxes, and some more bento boxes!
Merold: That’s so many bento boxes!
Rimicha: But they’re all different~! There are round ones, square ones, two-tiered ones, and ones for sandwiches! New bento boxes are so exciting. I’m gonna ask my favourite bento shop to pack my usual bento in these♪
Hallritt: I bought a few things, but I think my favourite has to be this teaspoon. I thought I’d get it so I could match with Lord Kitty.
Rimicha: Wow! So cute! The spoon is shaped like a music note~!
Hallritt: It’s an interesting design, isn’t it?
Rimicha: Come to think of it, didn’t you buy anything while shopping today, Merold?
Merold: I can do that any time.
Hallritt: Actually, I think I saw you picking out some postcards… Oh, look! They’re in your pocket!

Hallritt: What do we do, Rimicha!
Rimicha: What do we do, Hallritt~!
Merold: Decide yourselves. I'm fine either way.
Rimicha: Let’s rock-paper-scissors for it, Hallritt! Let’s do it!
Hallritt: Okay! If I win, we’ll go to Merold’s house, and if you win, we call it a day, okay?
Rimicha: But that makes it seem like I’m the one who wants to call it a day!

Rimicha: Yeah! We can decide with heads or tails! Here goes!

Kurode: Hardly ever… I feel like going to bed early and waking up early has become ingrained in me by now.
Cielomort: Amazing! That’s very impressive.
Kurode: I think you’re just too much of a night owl. Were you like this back in knight school? I bet you had a hard time getting up in the morning, huh?
Cielomort: Mhm, that’s why Will often had to come and wake me up.
Klarkstella: I can imagine…
Cielomort: One time I dozed off during attendance, so Will hid behind his textbook and answered for me.
Klarkstella: Willmesh helps you out way too much!
Kurode: You should be insanely grateful for him!
Cielomort: Hehe, we would even stay up together to study for exams. That brings back memories.
Klarkstella: Now that makes me wonder about what kind of student you were.
Kurode: Me too. Did you actually listen to your teacher? Did you get along with others?
Cielomort: Hmm…? I’d say I was an average student.
Klarkstella: …Really…?
Cielomort: It’s true. I wasn’t the most studious, and while my grades weren’t bad, they weren’t particularly outstanding either.
Kurode: That’s surprising… I thought you would’ve been top of your class…
Klarkstella: Yeah.
Cielomort: Is it really that surprising? What kind of student were you back in knight school, Kurode?
Kurode: Uhh… Pretty average.
Klarkstella: Did every student get put under a spell to make them think that they’re “average”?
Kurode: No, I really was average. I put in more effort than most other people, but whether that actually paid off is another story…
Klarkstella: Huh…
Cielomort: But I think putting in the effort is very meaningful.
Kurode: …Thanks. Speaking of, it’s amazing that Myunna was able to skip a grade. How did he even manage to do that?
Cielomort: He must have been as hard-working and pure-hearted as a student as he is now.
Kurode: Yeah, I think so. That means the school decided he was the kind of guy fit to be a knight. It really is amazing…
Klarkstella: I can kind of imagine what school life must’ve been like… but only vaguely. What do you learn to do at knight school?
Kurode: It’s not really learning to do things… It’s more like learning the methods and ways of thinking in order to be able to do things. Of course you learn about knowledge and mindset, too. What a knight is, what a lord means to a knight, that sort of thing.
Klarkstella: Don’t those things go without saying?
Kurode: That’s easy for you to say…!
Cielomort: Hehe, Klark and Louter were raised right by Lord Kiki and Lord Lala’s side and became their Fragaria at a young age, after all.
Kurode: Now that’s something I can’t imagine.
Klarkstella: Both Louter and I learned so much from Lord Kiki and Lord Lala. They even read us many, many books. Now we’re the ones reading to them more than they are to us. Louter was the first to learn how to read, but I was the first to learn how to do math.
Kurode: …Whenever I hear your guys’ stories, it always makes me think about how happy you must’ve been to live with your Lord in such a beautiful kingdom. It’s kinda nice.
Cielomort: So you feel happy being by your Lord’s side too, Kurode?
Kurode: W-Well, in that sense… I mean, I guess I can’t deny that…
Cielomort: Hehe, your love for inventing must’ve been from Lord Kiki’s influence, right, Klark?
Klarkstella: That’s right.
Kurode: You keep coming up with such interesting things. Oh, Kuromi was really happy with that “creature tracking telescope” you made the other day. Thanks.
Klarkstella: You’re welcome.
Cielomort: “Creature tracking telescope”?
Kurode: It automatically finds moving things and tracks them on its own. Kuromi’s always looking at the mountains in the distance from the castle.
Cielomort: A lot of your inventions really seem to make others happy, Klark.
Klarkstella: Really? Maybe it’s because many of my ideas were for Louter. It’s probably been that way since I was little.
Kurode: Oh? What other things have you made so far?
Klarkstella: One of them was a robot that mixes paint to make any colour you want. I made a mistake in the design, though, and it ended up making tons of night sky colours, so Louter had to fill an entire sketchbook with just paintings of the night sky. This was back when we were kids.
Kurode: If you had gone to knight school, you probably would’ve gotten all sorts of requests to make things. Stuff like an automatic chalkboard eraser or an alarm clock that guarantees you’ll wake up.
Cielomort: If it were me, I would’ve asked for a teacher detector. It would’ve been nice to have that when I’d secretly read books after lights out.
Kurode: Woah… I suddenly feel a sort of kinship…
Klarkstella: Me at knight school, huh… From what I’m hearing, it doesn’t sound as boring of a place as you’d expect.
Cielomort: Want to get a feel for what it’s like? Well then, Klarkstella, list the current knights of the Blue Continent in order of when they had their accolade.
Klarkstella: H-Huh…?
Kurode: That’s right, we did do stuff like this. Hey, Klark, stand up when you answer.
Klarkstella: Huh?
Cielomort: Klarkstella, what is your answer?
Klarkstella: Umm, in order of when they had their accolade… That would be me and Louter, Cielomort, Myunna, then Kurode… right? I’m not sure about Willmesh. I think it was probably around the same time as you, Cielomort.
Kurode: “I think”!? That’s rude to say towards the teacher, Klark.
Klarkstella: But… But that’s what I think it is!
Cielomort: Hehe, well done. Full marks for you.
Klarkstella: Isn’t that a bit generous?
Cielomort: Well, there are all kinds of teachers. So, did you get a feel for what knight school is like?
Klarkstella: Hmm, well, maybe not going to school was the right choice after all. Or rather, I don’t think I would’ve made a good student even if I had gone.
Kurode: Really?
Cielomort: I don’t think that’s true, but I guess motivation varies depending on the subject. Or maybe not?
Kurode: Oh! I totally get that! How well I got along with teachers varied a ton. When it came to teachers I didn’t like, I’d either be silent in their class or completely act out!
Cielomort: Wow, we know Klark really well, don't we?
Kurode: Yeah!
Klarkstella: Hey! Could you not get so worked up over other people’s business?
Kurode: Ahaha, sorry, sorry.
Klarkstella: So, has anything you learned at knight school actually helped you since becoming a Fragaria?
Kurode: That’s the thing. Of course it was useful, but there’s a ton that we never learned. I was never told that I’d be tossed around like this…
Cielomort: I never knew that a Fragaria’s feelings for their Lord could run so deeply. I guess they don’t teach you how to feel in your heart at school.
Klarkstella: Well, of course not. Feelings are unique to each person. Isn’t that why we become Fragaria and devote our very own chivalry to our Lords? We give our everything in order to protect them.
Cielomort: …! You’re absolutely right…!
Kurode: …You may be pretty harsh, Klark, but sometimes you really hit the nail on the head.
Klarkstella: Hey! Either compliment me or criticize me. Make up your mind!
Cielomort: If you two are going to fight, please do so outside of the classroom.
Klarkstella: Enough with the knight school roleplay already!
